Description:

CQC provides an application control system which allows you to control applications on any computer in the network. Normally you must have a dedicated application control driver for the particular application you want to control, so that you can have good control over the application. The driver is written with an understanding of the target application and provides a standards field-based view of the application so that it can be treated like any other CQC device.

Sometimes though you just have a need to do simple control over an application for which no driver is available, or for which it's not really worth doing one since the control requirements are so simple. This driver provides a mechanism for that. It is a generic application control driver that provides simple control over most any application. It allows you to:

That's all it can do, but this is often sufficient for many purposes. If you need more, you'll have to have an application specific driver done for it.

In order to interact with the application, this driver must find the top level frame window for the application. If you know the path to the window, you can provide it during driver installation. This 'path' is a special kind of notation used by the application control drivers to indicate a particular window of an application. If you leave this value blank, the driver will attempt to figure out the correct window. Usually this will work, but if it does not, then it may be necessary for us to figure out the actual path to the window.

Quirks and Limitations:

For most application control drivers, when you install the driver, it asks you for the path to the application, just the path part, not including the program name. The driver knows the program name and provides it itself so as to avoid mistakes. For this driver, since it is generic, you must provide the whole path to the program to run.
