You can do so if you wish, or you can work with one of our Integration Partners who can assist you in the creation of your desired functionality. In terms of CQC itself, mastering it is at about the same level as mastering any large software application, such as Microsoft Excel or Adobe Photoshop and so forth. I.e. it's not something for a lazy afternoon, it will require some application and study, but it's clearly doable by anyone who would feel comfortable learning a powerful software tool.
What is more complex are those issues that exist outside of CQC. Remember that CQC is just the 'glue' that ties together various systems and devices in your home. Those other systems are sometimes considerably more complex and require more investigation and understanding to implement correctly. For instance, wiring your home for automation and media, selecting and installing a lighting system, selecting and installing security systems and sensors and so forth. And some of these physical installation activities may require a license in your particular state.
How much of these latter issues come into play depends on what sort of system you are implementing. To set up CQC to control a home theater, for instance, or a simple retro-fit type lighting system is fairly straightforward once you understand CQC itself. To set up a full bore, hard-wired security, lighting, HVAC, sprinkler, and so forth system can be a lot of work and require a lot of up front study and you will be more likely to want to get a professional involved at that point.
