Dec.10, 2007 - CQC Version 2.3 has now been posted for download. This is technically a minor release, stepping up from the previous 2.2.4 formal release. But it has a fairly long list of medium and small fixes and improvements. Most of these features are 'enabling' type features, the most important of which are:
LAN Based Music Streaming
This release includes a driver for the Barix ExStreamer, which is a small device that sits on the LAN and provides local analog or digital audio outputs. CQC can stream data from our supported repositories (for WMA and MP3 files only) to the ExStreamer, so you can create a LAN based multi-zone audio solution.
CML Updates
You can now create media renderer drivers in CML, which allows for development of third party media renderers. Up until now, only CQSL could write these types of drivers. You can also query the available drivers and their fields, which allows for generic CML-Bin web server logic and other interesting automation logic tricks. And you can make calls to the driver 'backdoor' methods, which allow user's to make non-field based access to drivers.
Driver Simulation
There is a new set of simulator drivers that simulate common types of devices, which are designed to enable the development of demos for installers to show to clients. There is also a new command line utility to extract the fields of an existing driver and the Variables driver can import that list, to quickly create a simulation of the fields of a driver for testing, development, or demo purposes.
New/Improved Drivers
A number of new drivers are available in this release, including Radient Select4, ADA Suite, Barix ExStreamer, Insteon PLM, Lumagen Radience, Denon 3808CI, and MX3141. Updated drivers include Aprilaire, Carl's Electronics, Autopatch, TheaterTek IP, Denon 4806CI, Extron 200, Pioneer VSX, Denon 3808CI, and POP3.
A complete list of bug fixes and features implemented in this release is available in the release notes in the main directory of the installer.
You can download the new version via the Try/Buy tab above, and try it out for 30 days. So you can know for sure whether it meets your needs before you commit to a DIY or professional installation.
